Turn right and drive south for 0.9 mi to where the the paved part of Stark ends and there is a 'Road Ends' sign.  Turn right on Needham Rd and drive west for 0.3 mi to the DMC, continue west for 0.7 mi to the California Aqueduct and the end of the road, and the mark on the right.  Park on the east levee road.  The historical descriptions and stenciled locations on the aqueduct structures indicate that the bridge road is "Kern Creek Road", not Needham Rd.

Turn left on McCracken Rd and drive north for 1.7 mi to Hamilton Rd, a modified T-intersection.  McCracken Rd continues north after a slight jog to the west.  Turn left on Hamilton Rd and drive 0.9 mi, crossing over the DMC after 0.6 mi, to where the road curves right to the north.  Continue north for 0.1 mi to Khalsa Dr, with a sign indicating a private driveway, a side road left.  Turn left on Khalsa Dr and drive west for 0.05 mi to the California Aqueduct and the mark on the right, parking on the east levee road.  Welty Rd, indicated in stenciled aqueduct labeling and in the historic descriptions, is the north extension of Hamilton, north of Khalsa Rd.

Turn right, northwest, on Ahern Rd, SH 33, and drive 0.5 mi nw to mark on left in culvert headwall, as described.  Mark is at angle point on the nw end of angled headwall. Mark is about 2 ft above land surface; only two legs could be used.

It is to be set about 3 ft north of the south end of the concrete culvert headwall on the east side of MacArthur Rd., about 150 ft north of the centerline of the Hwy 205 westbound exit ramp, about 55 ft northwest of a 40 ft by 40 ft concrete block Structure, about 30 ft east of the centerline of MacArthur Rd, about 32 ft north of a fire hydrant and about 30 ft north of a power pole.

Also, the culvert is marked by a carsonite highway marker MP 6.41. It is about 150 ft west of the extension of a paved very wide entrance to Gate #11, at 14250 A.P. Rd for commercial windmill installation, and across the road from a pond for runoff.  There are many metal commercial windmills on the property to the north but no wooden ones left.

Drive east on Dublin Canyon Valley Rd, a frontage rd to I-580 for 0.8 mi to the mark on the right, about 100 ft east of the entrance to a gravel sorting operation (perhaps temporary). The mark is set in the east end of a Concrete 1 ft x 4 ft catch basin set to a depth of about 8 ft.  It is 17 ft south of CL Castro Valley Rd, 14.5 ft se of pole #110126924.

From the intersection of Center St and Grove Way, drive south on Center St for 0.4 mi to a 3-way intersection with  Center St bearing north, B St bearing southwest and Kelly St bearing east.  Turn left on Kelly St and drive 0.5 mi easterly to Woodroe Ave, a side rd left, just east of Maud Ave, a side rd right.  Turn left on Woodroe Ave, and drive north 0.3 mi to Hartman Terrace, a side rd left.  Continue north, entering the Don Castro Reservoir Park, and follow the road northeasterly around the reservoir to the bridge over San Lorenzo Creek and the mark on the right.
The mark is a 2.5-in brass disk set by ACFC&WCD, stamped C-1, with a center hole.  Set in the center of bridge (over abutment) over San Lorenzo Creek in Don Castro Reservoir in the East Bay Parks Regional Recreation Area.  It is 35 ft east of the west end of the south concrete sidewalk, 16.5 ft south of CL of road, at the center of a double gate in the chain link fence.

To reach from Hwy 101, take the exit for Hwy 152 West, which is 10th St, and drive west for 0.3 mi to Chestnut St. From the intersection of 10th St and Chestnut St, continue west on 10th St (Hwy 152) for 0.3 mi to Monterey Rd and turn right, where Hwy 152 West continues.  Drive north on Monterey St for 0.85 mi to IOOF Ave, a side road right, which is about 0.1 mi south of 1st St (where Hwy 152 turns west.)  Turn right on IOOF Ave, and drive 0.05 mi east, and the mark on the right. Park near the southwestern part of the bridge over Miller Slough.
The monument is to be set in southwest abutment of IOOF Ave bridge.
The mark is 25 ft south of CL of IOOF Ave, 50 ft east of the east rail of RR tracks (abandoned or seldom used), 25 ft west of CL of Miller Slough, 16 ft east of the west end of the concrete sidewalk of the bridge, identified as 37C 0271 and built in 1999.

Turn left and drive southerly on Monterey Hwy for 0.6 mi to Highland St, a signalized intersection.  Continue southerly on Monterey Hwy for 0.2 mi to the mark on the left, just south of a sign for 'San Martin'.
The mark is 29 ft north northwest of a single 3-ft-hi vertical RR tie, and 13 ft south of a 'Welcome to San Martin" substantial wooden (decorative) sign.

From Hwy 101 and Bailey Rd, drive west for 0.4 mi, to where further westbound travel is prevented with barricades, and turn right on a side road right.  Drive north and then curve west to the end of this connector road for Monterey Rd.  Turn right on Monterey Rd, and drive 1.8 mi north to Metcalf Ave., a side road right (east), passing through the small town of Coyote at 0.8 mi. Turn right on Metcalf Ave and drive 0.3 mi east, passing Parkview Lake on the left (a SCVWD flood control facility) to Malech Rd, a side road right, crossing over I-5 at 0.25mi.  Turn right on Malech Rd (going straight goes to a Off-highway vehicle park), and drive 0.1 mi south to the mark on the left.
The mark (to be set) is in a 8-ft by 8-ft concrete vault box that provides access for a pipeline of some sort.  The concrete box is 8-ft by 8-ft, with side walls that angle from ground level at the front (roadside) to about 3.5 ft above the box 'floor'so that the back wall serves as a retaining wall for the hillslope behind it.  There are two hinged metal access doors in the floor of the vault box.  Set in the front left of the box, the mark is 21 ft east northeast of the CL of Malech Rd, 18.5 ft northwest of a telephone pole.

Highway emergency call box 152-176 is about 200 ft west of the driveway, and the mark is about halfway between driveways for 6100 on the south (same side) and 6110 Pacheco Pass on the north.

Continue west on Hwy 152 for 3.7 mi, where the mark is to the left, and continue about 1 mi to a left-turn lane.  Make a U-turn and drive about 1 mi east on Hwy 152 to a dirt/gravel pullout on the right immediately after the highway paddle that indicates PM 4.28.  The site is just east of a large "San Luis Recreation Area" sign.
Fencepost is 99.5 ft southerly from fogline of eastbound lanes of Hwy 152.  Set mark about 2 ft roadside (north) of fenceline; fence is hogwire on lower half, barbed wire on upper. Fencepost was red and white-tipped steel T-post; now spray painted orange.

ROMERO  (New station) Disk to be set in concrete foundation

About 10 miles southwest of Santa Nella.  From the intersection of Hwy 33 and Hwy 152, 3 mi south of Santa Nella, drive west on Hwy 152 for 4.8 mi to the access road to Romero Visitor's Center, a side rd left (south), at Hwy 152 MP 8.00.  Drive south and then southeasterly on the road for 0.3 mi to the east side of the parking lot and the mark on the left.  (Center is closed and parking lot is chained off, as of 12/22/05.)
The mark is [to be set] in the southern end of a 30-ft long concrete wall, oriented north-south, standing about 2.5-3 ft above land surface.  The wall is the top part of a retaining wall for a pad about 6 ft below the top of the wall. A steel about 10-ft-diameter circular beige painted water tank is on the pad.  Mark should be set on the west part of the top of the wall so that railing doesn't interfere with using center punch of disk.

The south end of the wall is about 290 ft southeast from the eastern gatepost at the entrance of the parking lot, 225 ft northeast from the nearer (northeastern of two) flagpoles by the building (visitor center), 41 ft east of edge of curb along an 18-in-diameter asphalt walkway, and 20 ft north of a red painted water pipe (for fire-fighting) that stands about 3.5 ft tall.

Drive south on Basalt Rd for 0.15 mi to the intersection with Gonzaga Rd and turn left.  Drive 0.05 mi east on Gonzaga Rd to the station on the left in the top of a culvert headwall.

It is 65 ft west of the CL of ORchard, a side road north and 22 ft north of CL of Hwy 140.
The structure is an open concrete 'box' with a higher headwall across the north (the back) side and an angled wingwall extending past the back on the east side only.  The mark is [to be set] in the west wall of the structure, about 5 ft north of the south wall of the box.  The structure is about 3 ft above the level of the highway; the top of the concrete wall and setting for the mark is about 1 ft above land surface.

From the intersection of Hwy 140 and Hwy 49 South in Mariposa, drive westerly on Hwy 140 for 8.3 mi to a pullout and the mark on the right.  At the north end of the pullout is a 10 ft by 30 ft 'island' of dirt and rock outcrop.  Mark to be set in a 1.5 ft x 3 ft boulder that is about 1 ft above land surface, and the middle one of three 'outcrops' at the west point of the island.  Mark is 35 ft east of CL of Hwy 140, about 100 ft east of edge of bank, about 80 east of south corner of extremely dilapidated shack at northwestern corner of pullout. Catheys Mountain to the northeast blocks visibility about 20 degrees at about 75 degrees.

There is no fence anymore; grapes are growing in the field adjacent the mark.  It is about 10-15 ft (NEED to measure) northeast of a small power pole. 
NOTES: The rod appears to not be moved, but the concrete monument with the well cover embedded in it has been moved to the southeast so that the rod is in the nw quadrant of the monument well, about 1 inch from the edge.
Also, the rod has a stainless steel cap crimped to it and will need a special adaptor.

Continue east on Patterson for 0.2 mi to a pulloff on the right, just before the bridge over Modesto Irrigation District Main Canal, and the mark on the right.
Driving westbound from the town of Riverbank, from First St, a signalized intersection just east of the highway bridge over the RR tracks, drive west on Hwy 108/Patterson Rd for 2.4 mi to Coffee Rd, passing the first (eastern of two) bridge(s) over Modesto Irrigation District Main Canal at 1.9 miles. From Coffee Rd, continue west on Hwy 108 for 0.2 mi to bridge 38-13 over MID Main Canal and the mark on the left just west of the west end of the bridge.
Also recovered V 799 Reset 1962, HS2030.  Unusable with fixed ht pole because it is in top of bridge railing, about 3 ft above deck.  V 799 has leveled NAVD88 but COFFEE does not.

There may be a visibility issue (contractor should make obstruction diagram) but it's the best we could do: it's about 50 ft north of a live oak, and about 50 ft northeast of a medium pine tree.

A bed and breakfast, called Meadow Creek Ranch, is to the north at 1858 Triangle Rd.  It is at about PM 6.0, and 4.1 mi easterly of 10FQ.
The mark is about 140 ft west of the CL of Triangle Rd, about 90 ft north of the CL of Hwy 49, about 50 feet south of the R/W fenceline. 4ft x 8 ft bedrock, about 1 ft north of the south end of the outcrop, which is about 2 ft above land surface at the south end becoming flush with ground on the north end.
Brooks Rd, a side road north, is unsigned.

Turn left on Vista Ave and go southwest for about 0.1 mi crossing the railroad tracks to a dirt farm road left. Turn left and go southeast for 0.8 mi to the station on the left between the railroad and Hwy 99. The station is stamped T.I.D. 179 109.28. It is about 200 ft northwest of the centerline of Griffith Road, 27 ft southwest of the centerline of the southbound lanes of the Blvd. and 10 ft southeast of the centerline of the canal.

It is about 60 ft south of the centerline of taylor Road, about 58 ft northeast of the northeast rail of the railroad tracks and about 20 ft southwest of the centerline of the southbound lanes of old Hwy 99.

Turn right and go west on W. Ripon Rd for 0.8 mi to a side road right, Olive Avenue. Turn right and go north on Olive Ave for 1.3 mi to the end of pavement, afarm road left and the railroad tracks. Turn left and go northwest on the dirt farm road for 0.1 mi to the station on the right in a large concrete siphon structure. The station is set 1.2 ft northwest of the easternmost angle point in the structure. It is 31.5 ft southwest of the southwest rail of the tracks, 28 ft northeast of the centerline of the farm road, 16 ft east of a 30 in dia CMP riser and 7 ft north of the extended centerline of another dirt farm road and about 3 ft higher than the road.

It is about 200 ft east of the centerline of Hwy 99, 42 ft south of the centerline of Louise Ave, 35 ft southwest of power pole no. ctc 1150507, 25 ft south of a fence corner and 6 ft west of a 16 in concrete vent pipe that projects about 4 ft. It is near post mile 4.8.
