SOPAC registers over one million ftp transfers per month from its data archive. Over 1000 GPS sites are processed each day at SOPAC across nearly 20 dual-processor machines. Over 8 terabytes of data are on the SOPAC data archive. Precise GPS site coordinates and velocities for hundreds of sites are available at SOPAC. SOPAC archives dozens of real time sites. Over 2000 daily GPS RINEX observation files from around the world are available from the SOPAC data archive. SOPAC tracks GPS site codes and provides a Site Information Manager to coordinate new site code assignments. SOPAC provides data, services and support for the California Spatial Reference Center (CSRC), a partnership with the National Geodetic Survey (NGS). SOPAC serves as a Global Data Center and a Global Analysis Center as a major participant in the International GPS Service (IGS). SOPAC performs research and provides operational support for NOAA's Forecast Systems Laboratory (FSL) real-time GPS meteorology project for short-term weather forecasting. SOPAC is led by Yehuda Bock, Director, and is comprised of a small staff of researchers and data management personnel. SOPAC is developing the GPS Explorer for GPS data exploration, visualization and modeling.
